Security Bulletin

Summary

Vulnerabilities have been addressed in the GSKit component of IBM DB2 LUW.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID: CVE-2016-0201

DESCRIPTION: IBM GSKit could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive
information, caused by a MD5 collision. An attacker could exploit this
vulnerability to obtain authentication credentials.

CVSS Base Score: 5.9

CVSS Temporal Score: See
https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/109310 for the current
score

CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined

CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N)

CVEID: CVE-2015-7420

DESCRIPTION: A vulnerability in GSKit could allow a remote attacker to obtain
sensitive information. The GSKit PRNG state is duplicated during a fork()
system call operation which results in a period of time where child processes
may generate identical PRNG output to the parent.

CVSS Base Score: 3.7

CVSS Temporal Score: See
https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/107694 for the current
score

CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined

CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N)

CVEID: CVE-2015-7421

DESCRIPTION: A vulnerability in GSKit could allow a remote attacker to obtain
sensitive information. The internal ICC PRNG pool state is duplicated during a
fork() system call operation which results in a period of time where child
processes may generate identical PRNG output to the parent. This may allow
possible attacks related to predicable state which an attacker could exploit.

CVSS Base Score: 3.7

CVSS Temporal Score: See
https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/107695 for the current
score

CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined

Affected Products and Versions

Customers who have Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) support enabled in their DB2
database system are affected. SSL support is not enabled in DB2 by default.

All fix pack levels of IBM DB2 V9.7, V10.1 and V10.5 editions listed below and
running on AIX, Linux, HP, Solaris or Windows are affected.

IBM DB2 Express Edition

IBM DB2 Workgroup Server Edition

IBM DB2 Enterprise Server Edition

IBM DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server Edition

IBM DB2 Advanced Workgroup Server Edition

IBM DB2 Connect Application Server Edition

IBM DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition

IBM DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System i

IBM DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition for System z

The DB2 Connect products mentioned are affected only if a local database has
been created.

IBM DB2 pureScale Feature for Enterprise Server Edition, V9.8, running on AIX
or Linux is affected.

Remediation/Fixes

The recommended solution is to apply the appropriate fix for this
vulnerability.

FIX:

Customers running any vulnerable fixpack level of an affected Program, V9.7,
V9.8, V10.1 and V10.5 can download the special build containing the interim
fix for this issue from Fix Central. These special builds are available based
on the most recent fixpack level for each impacted release: DB2 V9.7 FP11, DB2
V9.8 FP5, DB2 V10.1 FP5 and DB2 V10.5 FP7. They can be applied to any affected
fixpack level of the appropriate release to remediate this vulnerability.

Refer to the following chart to determine how to proceed to obtain a needed
fixpack or special build.
