Summary:

A potential security vulnerability in the Intel SSD Data Center Tool may allow
escalation of privilege. Intel is releasing software updates to mitigate this
potential vulnerability.

Vulnerability Details:

CVEID: CVE-2021-0100

Description: Incorrect default permissions in the installer for the Intel(R)
SSD Data Center Tool, versions downloaded before 12/31/2020, may allow an
authenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local
access.

Intel SSD Data Center Tool versions downloaded before 12/31/2020.

Recommendations:

Intel recommends uninstalling the Intel SSD Data Center Tool and install the
replacement Intel Memory and Storage Tool (MAS) for SSD management.
