OpenLDAP could be made to crash if it received specially crafted network
traffic.

Details

Pasi Saarinen discovered that OpenLDAP incorrectly handled certain short
timestamps. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause
OpenLDAP to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Update instructions

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package
versions:

Ubuntu 20.10

  o slapd - 2.4.53+dfsg-1ubuntu1.4

Ubuntu 20.04

  o slapd - 2.4.49+dfsg-2ubuntu1.7

Ubuntu 18.04

  o slapd - 2.4.45+dfsg-1ubuntu1.10

Ubuntu 16.04

  o slapd - 2.4.42+dfsg-2ubuntu3.13

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
