K73302459: Certain iRulesLX binaries are installed with improper permissions

Security Advisory

Original Publication Date: 26 Aug, 2020

Security Advisory Description

Certain iRulesLX binaries are installed with improper permissions. This issue
occurs when the following condition is met:

o The affected system is provisioned with iRules Language Extensions (LX).

When you provision a system with iRulesLX, the system installs certain iRulesLX
binaries with improper permissions (the SUID bit set).

Impact

Certain iRulesLX binaries may be run with the SUID bit set, which may lead to a
privilege escalation; however, the binaries are not exploitable under the
standard recommended configuration.

Symptoms

As a result of this issue, you may encounter the following symptom:

o You attempt to search for binaries with the SUID bit set using the command
    find / -type f \( -perm -4000 -o -perm -2000 \) in the command line, and
the system reports certain iRulesLX binaries with the SUID bit set.
