January 3 2020: Initial Release - --------------------------BEGIN INCLUDED TEXT-------------------- Cisco Data Center Network Manager XML External Entity Read Access Vulnerability Priority: Medium Advisory ID: cisco-sa-20200102-dcnm-xml-ext-entity First Published: 2020 January 2 16:00 GMT Last Updated: 2020 January 15 15:58 GMT Version 1.1: Final Workarounds: No workarounds available Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvr79188 CSCvr88730 CSCvr88737 CVE-2019-15983 CWE-611 CVSS Score: 4.9 AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N/E:X/RL:X/RC:X Summary o A vulnerability in the SOAP API of Cisco Data Center Network Manager (DCNM) could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to gain read access to information that is stored on an affected system. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would need administrative privileges on the DCNM application. The vulnerability exists because the SOAP API improperly handles XML External Entity (XXE) entries when parsing certain XML files. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by inserting malicious XML content in an API request. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to read arbitrary files from the affected device. Note: The severity of this vulnerability is aggravated by the vulnerabilities described in the Cisco Data Center Network Manager Authentication Bypass Vulnerabilities advisory, published simultaneously with this one. Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability. This advisory is available at the following link: https://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/ cisco-sa-20200102-dcnm-xml-ext-entity Affected Products o Vulnerable Products At the time of publication, this vulnerability affected Cisco DCNM software releases earlier than Release 11.3(1) for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and virtual appliance platforms.
