K21711352:TMOS Shell vulnerability CVE-2019-19151

Security Advisory

Original Publication Date: 21 Dec, 2019

Latest Publication Date: 02 Jul, 2020

Security Advisory Description

Authenticated users granted TMOS Shell (tmsh) privileges can access objects on
the file system, which would normally be disallowed by tmsh restrictions. This
allows for authenticated, low privileged attackers to access objects on the
file system, which would not normally be allowed. (CVE-2019-19151)

Note: This vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2018-5516.

Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthorized privileges to authenticated
administrative users with TMOS Shell (tmsh) access.

Security Advisory Status

F5 Product Development has assigned ID 746091 (BIG-IP), ID 709043 (BIG-IQ), and
ID 345678 (Enterprise Manager) to this vulnerability.

Security Advisory Recommended Actions

If you are running a version listed in the Versions known to be vulnerable
column, you can eliminate this vulnerability by upgrading to a version listed
in the Fixes introduced in column. If the table lists only an older version
than what you are currently running, or does not list a non-vulnerable version,
then no upgrade candidate currently exists.
