A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

  o Ubuntu 19.10
  o Ubuntu 19.04
  o Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
  o Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
  o Ubuntu 14.04 ESM
  o Ubuntu 12.04 ESM

Summary

GNU cpio could be made to expose sensitive information if it received a
specially crafted input.

Software Description

  o cpio - a tool to manage archives of files

Details

Thomas Habets discovered that GNU cpio incorrectly handled certain inputs. An
attacker could possibly use this issue to access sensitive information.

Update instructions

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package
