The TMM may restart and produce a core file as a result of this condition. The BIG-IP system provisioned with the CGNAT module and configured with a virtual server using a PPTP profile is exposed to this vulnerability. (CVE-2019-6611) Impact The BIG-IP system temporarily fails to process traffic as it recovers from a Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) restart, and devices configured in a device group may fail over. Security Advisory Status F5 Product Development has assigned ID 749879 (BIG-IP) to this vulnerability. Additionally, BIG-IP iHealth may list Heuristic H47527163 on the Diagnostics > Identified > High page. To determine if your product and version have been evaluated for this vulnerability, refer to the Applies to (see versions) box. To determine if your release is known to be vulnerable, the components or features that are affected by the vulnerability, and for information about releases or hotfixes that address the vulnerability, refer to the following table. Security Advisory Recommended Actions If you are running a version listed in the Versions known to be vulnerable column, you can eliminate this vulnerability by upgrading to a version listed in the Fixes introduced in column. If the table lists only an older version than what you are currently running, or does not list a non-vulnerable version, then no upgrade candidate currently exists. Mitigation To mitigate this vulnerability, you can filter the network access to the affected virtual server and allow only known, trusted clients to connect. You can configure the BIG-IP system that is provisioned with the AFM module to filter the trusted clients by way of the source addresses, through an AFM rule. For BIG-IP systems without the AFM module provisioned, you can add the trusted clients as the source addresses that the affected virtual server will listen to. Alternatively, you can use an external packet filtering device.
