Security Bulletin

Summary

The BigFix Platform Version 9.2 exhibits a problem in the area of secure
credential storage. There are also vulnerabilities in the OpenSSL, and Query
and YUI libraries used by BigFix. These issues have all been addressed in the
9.2.17 release.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID: CVE-2017-1231
DESCRIPTION: IBM BigFix stores user credentials in plain text which can be read
by a local user.
CVSS Base Score: 4.4
CVSS Temporal Score: See https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/
123910 for the current score
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N

CVEID: CVE-2018-5407
DESCRIPTION: Multiple SMT/Hyper-Threading architectures and processors could
allow a local attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by execution
engine sharing on Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) architecture. By using the
PortSmash new side-channel attack, an attacker could run a malicious process
next to legitimate processes using the architecture's parallel thread running
capabilities to leak encrypted data from the CPU's internal processes.
CVSS Base Score: 5.1
CVSS Temporal Score: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/

CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N)

CVEID: CVE-2012-5883
DESCRIPTION: Bugzilla is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by improper
validation of user-supplied input by the Flash component infrastructure in YUI
script. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using attack vectors
related to swfstore.swf to execute script in a victim's Web browser within the
security context of the hosting Web site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker
could use this vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication
credentials.
CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Temporal Score: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/80116
for more information
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N)

CVEID: CVE-2012-6708
DESCRIPTION: jQuery before 1.9.0 is vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS)
attacks. The jQuery(strInput) function does not differentiate selectors from
HTML in a reliable fashion. In vulnerable versions, jQuery determined whether
the input was HTML by looking for the '<' character anywhere in the string,
giving attackers more flexibility when attempting to construct a malicious
payload. In fixed versions, jQuery only deems the input to be HTML if it
explicitly starts with the '<' character, limiting exploitability only to
attackers who can control the beginning of a string, which is far less common.
CVSS Base Score: 6.1
CVSS Temporal Score: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/
138055 for more information
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N)

CVEID: CVE-2015-9251
DESCRIPTION: jQuery before 3.0.0 is vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS)
attacks when a cross-domain Ajax request is performed without the dataType
option, causing text/javascript responses to be executed.
CVSS Base Score: 6.1
CVSS Temporal Score: https://exchange.xforce.ibmcloud.com/vulnerabilities/
138029 for more information
