Security Bulletin

Summary

FileNet Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS), which ships with
IBM Content Navigator, is affected by the following vulnerability:

Spring Framework's improper handling of ResourceHttpRequestHandler could result
in denial of service condition.

Vulnerability Details

CVE-ID: CVE-2018-15756
DESCRIPTION: Pivotal Spring Framework is vulnerable to a denial of service,
caused by improper handling of range request by the ResourceHttpRequestHandler.
By adding a range header with a high number of ranges, a remote attacker could
exploit this vulnerability to cause a denial of service condition.

Workarounds and Mitigations

FileNet Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS), shipped with IBM
Content Navigator, is vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) due to improper
handling of range request by the ResourceHttpRequestHandler in the Spring
Framework. When an attacker adds a range of headers, with a high number of
range values to the request object, the framework results in DoS.
Fixed the FileNet Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) by
upgrading the Spring Framework to version 4.3.22
