Information about a security vulnerability affecting WAS has been published in a security bulletin. Vulnerability Details Refer to the security bulletin(s) listed in the Remediation/Fixes section. Affected Products and Versions IBM Rational ClearCase, ClearCase Remote Client (CCRC) WAN server component. Versions 8.0.0.x, 8.0.1.x, 9.0.0.x, 9.0.1.x: This vulnerability only applies to the CCRC WAN server component, and only for certain levels of WebSphere Application Server. Remediation/Fixes Refer to the following security bulletins for vulnerability details and information about fixes addressed by IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) which is shipped with IBM Rational ClearCase. NOTE: There is a potential cross-site scripting vulnerability with the Installation Verification Tool (IVT) of WAS. On a standalone application server profile, the "ivtApp" application is used by the IVT. The application is also available as an installable Enterprise Application aRchive (EAR) file which is located at <WAS_HOME>/installableApps/ivtApp.ear. The WAS profile/server-configuration must be manually updated by an administrator. Either installing a WebSphere patch, uninstalling "ivtApp", or updating "ivtApp" as specified in the corresponding WAS Security Bulletin (below) is necessary. The CCRC WAN server does not use "ivtApp" so it can be uninstalled from any existing profile with CCRC WAN server in it. Note that if the WAS profile was created in a WAS version prior to 8.5.5.14, you will observe the security vulnerability even after installing the fix or updating WAS to 8.5.5.14. You will need to additionally either uninstall "ivtApp" or update "ivtApp". +---------------------------+---------------------------+-----------------------+ |Principal Product and |Affected Supporting Product|Affected Supporting | |Version(s) |and Version |Product Security | | | |Bulletin | +---------------------------+---------------------------+-----------------------+ |IBM Rational ClearCase, |IBM WebSphere Application |Security Bulletin: | |versions 8.0.0.x, 8.0.1.x, |Server version 8.0, 8.5, |Information Disclosure | |9.0.0.x, 9.0.1.x |9.0. |in WebSphere | | | |Application Server | | | |(CVE-2018-1643) | +---------------------------+---------------------------+-----------------------+ +-------------------+---------------------------------------------------------+ |ClearCase Versions | Applying the fix | +-------------------+---------------------------------------------------------+ |8.0.0.x, 8.0.1.x, | 1. Apply the appropriate WebSphere Application Server | | | fix directly to your CCRC WAN server host. No | | | ClearCase-specific steps are necessary. | +-------------------+---------------------------------------------------------+ For 8.0.x and earlier releases, IBM recommends upgrading to a fixed, supported version/release/platform of the product. Workarounds and Mitigations None. Important Note IBM strongly suggests that all System z customers be subscribed to the System z Security Portal to receive the latest critical System z security and integrity service. If you are not subscribed, see the instructions on the System z Security web site . Security and integrity APARs and associated fixes will be posted to this portal. IBM suggests reviewing the CVSS scores and applying all security or integrity fixes as soon as possible to minimize any potential risk.
