Abstract

IBM Security Network Protection is affected by multiple vulnerabilities
reported in Ruby on Rails. These vulnerabilities include multiple cross-site
scripting and denial of service vulnerabilities that could be exploited
remotely by an attacker with access to the Local Management Interface (LMI).
Content

Vulnerability Details:

The following information was provided by Ruby on Rails. In the case of IBM
Security Network Protection, the Local Management Interface is affected. For
the vulnerabilities identified below, they are remotely exploitable, no
specialized knowledge is required, and authentication is not required.

CVE ID: CVE-2013-1854

DESCRIPTION:

The Active Record component in Ruby on Rails 2.3.x before 2.3.18, 3.1.x before
3.1.12, and 3.2.x before 3.2.13 processes certain queries by converting hash
keys to symbols, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service
via crafted input to a where method. An exploit could impact the availability
of the system, but the integrity of data and confidentiality of information
are not compromised.

CVSS Base Score: 5.0
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/82922 for the
current score
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P)

CVE ID: CVE-2013-1857

DESCRIPTION: Ruby on Rails is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by
improper validation of user-supplied input by the sanitize helper. A remote
attacker could exploit this vulnerability using a specially-crafted URL to
execute script in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the
hosting Web site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker could use this
vulnerability to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials.
An exploit could impact the integrity of data of the system, but the
confidentiality of information and the availability are not compromised.

CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/82923 for the
current score

CVE ID: CVE-2013-1855

DESCRIPTION: Ruby on Rails is vulnerable to cross-site scripting, caused by
improper validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker could exploit
this vulnerability using the sanitize_css method in Action Pack to execute
script in a victim's Web browser within the security context of the hosting
Web site, once the URL is clicked. An attacker could use this vulnerability
to steal the victim's cookie-based authentication credentials. An exploit
could impact the integrity of data of the system, but the confidentiality of
information and the availability are not compromised.
