Version: 1.0

General Information

Executive Summary

This security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability in
Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability could allow elevation of privilege
if an attacker logs on to an affected system and runs a specially
crafted application designed to send a device event message to a
higher-integrity process. An attacker must have valid logon credentials
and be able to log on locally to exploit this vulnerability.

This security update is rated Important for all supported versions of
Microsoft Windows. For more information, see the subsection, Affected

Vulnerability Information

   CSRSS Vulnerability - CVE-2011-1967

An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in the Client/Server
Run-time Subsystem (CSRSS), allowing arbitrary code to be executed in
the context of another process. If this process runs with administrator
privileges, an attacker could then install programs; view, change, or
delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.
