Adobe Security bulletin

Presenter 7 update available to address potential Cross-site Scripting
issues

   Release date: August 8, 2008

   Vulnerability identifier: APSB08-17

   CVE number: CVE-2008-3515, CVE-2008-3516

   Platform: Windows

   Affected software versions:
     * Adobe Presenter 7
     * Adobe Presenter 6

Summary

Potential cross-site scripting vulnerabilities have been identified in
code generated by Adobe Presenter 7 and Adobe Presenter 6. Adobe
recommends customers update to Adobe Presenter 7.0.1, and update any
   previously deployed content.

Solution

Adobe recommends Presenter customers install the Adobe Presenter
7.0.1 update. Customers with Adobe Presenter 6 are advised to consult
the following tech note for information on upgrade eligibility.

Severity rating

Adobe categorizes this as an important issue and recommends
   affected users patch their installations.

Details

Input validation errors have been identified in code generated by
Presenter 6 and Presenter 7 that could lead to potential cross-site
scripting attacks. The relevant files that require an update are
viewer.swf and loadflash.js. In addition to updating their Presenter
installations, users are highly encouraged to update any instances of
viewer.swf or loadflash.js generated by Presenter 7 already deployed
on their web sites. Any content created by Presenter 6 should be
   re-generated and re-deployed.

These vulnerabilities are remotely exploitable. Adobe recommends
Presenter customers install the Adobe Presenter 7.0.1 update.
Customers with Adobe Presenter 6 are advised to consult the following
tech note for information on upgrade eligibility.

Acknowledgments

Adobe would like to thank Adi Sharabani, Ayal Yogev, and Yuval Baror
from IBM Rational Application Security (CVE-2008-3516) and Tavis
Ormandy of the Google Security Team (CVE-2008-3515) for reporting
these vulnerabilities and for working with us to help protect our
   customers' security.
