Patch available for RoboHelp Cross-Site Scripting issue
Release date: February 12, 2008
Vulnerability identifier: APSB08-05
CVE number: CVE-2008-0642
Platform: All platforms
Affected software versions: RoboHelp 6, RoboHelp 7

Summary

A specially crafted URL could be used to create a cross-site scripting
attack against files generated by RoboHelp 6 and RoboHelp 7.

Solution

Adobe strongly recommends users update their RoboHelp 6 and Robohelp 7
   installations.

   For RoboHelp 7:

RoboHelp 7 users can utilize the product's automatic update facility
     by selecting Help>Updates.

   For RoboHelp 6:

To install for WebHelp and FlashHelp:

     1. Download the update file. This zip file has a few files in a folder
        structure.

     2. The files in WebHelp5Ext\template_csh folder should be copied to
        \robohtml\ WebHelp5Ext\template_csh.

     3. The files in WebHelp5Ext\template_stock folder should be copied to
        \robohtml\ WebHelp5Ext\template_stock.

     4. The files in WildFireExt\template_csh folder should be copied to
        \robohtml\WildFireExt\template_csh.

     5. The files in WildFireExt \template_stock folder should be copied to
        \robohtml\ WildFireExt \template_stock.

     6. Restart RoboHelp.

     7. Re-generate RoboHelp content.

     8. Replace existing content with newly generated RoboHelp content.

For customers who have customized templates - to manually update file(s)
   for WebHelp and FlashHelp:

     1. Download and unzip the update file.

     2. Locate files to be patched in the unzipped folders which maps to
        \RoboHTML\ (WebHelp5Ext and WildFireExt) folders.

     3. Note that various string assignment have been changed with the
IsInternal() and _textToHtml() function calls. Also note the
additions done to include whutils.js in few HTML templates.

     4. Incorporate these changes into your customized templates.

     5. Add the new function IsInternal() from whutils.js for both WebHelp
        and FlashHelp.

     6. Restart RoboHelp.

     7. Regenerate output after these changes are done in the templates.

Severity rating

Adobe categorizes this as an important issue and recommends affected
   users patch their installations.
