Summary

=======

A vulnerability in the CLI parser of Cisco FXOS Software and Cisco UCS Fabric
Interconnect Software could allow an authenticated, local attacker to cause a
buffer overflow on an affected device.

The vulnerability is due to incorrect input validation in the CLI parser
subsystem. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by exceeding the
expected length of user input. A successful exploit could allow the attacker
to execute arbitrary code with root privileges on the affected system.

Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are
no workarounds that address this vulnerability.

Revision: 1.0

Last Updated: 2018 June 20 16:00 GMT

CVE ID(s): CVE-2018-0298

Summary

=======

A vulnerability in the web UI of Cisco FXOS and Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnect
Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a buffer
overflow on an affected system.

The vulnerability is due to incorrect input validation in the web UI. An
attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malicious HTTP or HTTPS
packet directed to the physical management interface of an affected system. A
successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the process to crash and
possibly reload the device, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition
on the affected system.

Cisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are
no workarounds that address this vulnerability.
