Abstract

Due to an unsupported version number in Version.xml, the Pack for SAP
Applications version 8.1.0.0 prevents installation of IIS patches. The error in
patch installation log is " Invalid input version string 8.1. Version string
should be in V.R.M.F.s.b format. Each element must be non negative integer."

Example log fragment (e.g. C:\IBM\InformationServer\Updates\
patch_JR58821_client_windows_cmt_11500-11502\ISInstall2017.12.28.15.58.02.log):

Content

Solution: The installation images for the Pack are currently being regenerated
(to use the correct version string "8.1.0.0" instead of the current incorrect
string "8.1". The version number is stored inside the installation image in
file ISPackForSAP\ProductSpec.xml.

Manual workaround: after installing the Pack, edit the file Version.xml in the
Information Server installation folder (e.g. /opt/IBM/InformationServer):

 1. make a backup of Version.xml
 2. open the file in a text editor (e.g. vi on Unix or Notepad on Windows)
 3. edit this entry and replace the version number "8.1" with "8.1.0.0". Save
    the file.
    <Product productId="ISPackForSAP" version="8.1"/>
 4. you should be able now to install patches

Note: the issue applies to all tiers and all platforms.
