K31211252:glibc vulnerability CVE-2014-9761

Security Advisory

Original Publication Date: 01 Jun, 2016

Latest Publication Date: 30 Mar, 2018

Security Advisory Description

Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the GNU C Library (aka glibc or
libc6) before 2.23 allow context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of
service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a long
argument to the (1) nan, (2) nanf, or (3) nanl function. (CVE-2014-9761)

Impact

This vulnerability may allow an attacker to cause a denial-of-service (DoS)
attack or execute arbitrary code. While the vulnerable code exists in BIG-IP
products, there are no known use cases where the code is being utilized.

Security Advisory Status

F5 Product Development has assigned ID 593139 (BIG-IP), ID 594245 (BIG-IQ), ID
594248 (Enterprise Manager), ID 476571 (ARX), and INSTALLER-2436 (Traffix
SDC), to this vulnerability. Additionally, BIG-IP iHealth may list Heuristic
H595658 on the Diagnostics > Identified > Medium page.
