Major updates and an Aussie radiation scare?

Date: 12 September 2008

Greetings all,

Over the course of the week, a number of important security updates were released, most prominently the monthly release of security-related updates from Microsoft. These included fixes for vulnerabilities in GDI+, Microsoft Office, Windows Media Player, and Windows Media Encoder.

Apple was also busy with the release of a major update for its iTunes package, as well as updates for the iPod Touch, and Bonjour for Windows, with all of these updates correcting serious security flaws.

In other news, we became aware of a malicious email currently circulating targeting Australians. Claiming to contain a report on "radiation contamination of Australia", the attachment contained within this email can infect a victim's computer with a keylogger, capable of stealing banking credentials.

Have a great weekend,

Jonathan
