The week that was...

Date: 05 September 2008

We started off the week by welcoming Jonathan Levine to the AusCERT co-ordination centre. As a Computer Security Analyst Jonathan will be working with the team to look after our members and further computer security awareness in our society.

In other news Cisco released a number of patches that affected a range of their products including their Access Control Server, PIX and ASA. Due to the nature of these products, be sure to apply the patches before the exploits are developed.

We saw chm files being used in the usual malware emails, and coincidently saw ClamAV release a patch for the chm parser.

Next week is Microsoft Patch week. At this stage their appears to be four critical vulnerabilities being patched, so get ready to roll those out.

Enjoy your weekend,

Paul
