-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 =========================================================================== AUSCERT External Security Bulletin Redistribution ESB-2008.0610 -- [Win][UNIX/Linux][Debian] New typo3 packages fix several vulnerabilities 27 January 2009 =========================================================================== AusCERT Security Bulletin Summary --------------------------------- Product: typo3 Publisher: Debian Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 UNIX variants (UNIX, Linux, OSX) Windows Impact: Execute Arbitrary Code/Commands Cross-site Scripting Access: Remote/Unauthenticated CVE Names: CVE-2008-2182 Original Bulletin: http://www.debian.org/security/2008/dsa-1596 Comment: This advisory references vulnerabilities in products which run on platforms other than Debian. It is recommended that administrators running Typo3 check for an updated version of the software for their operating system. Revision History: January 27 2009: Added CVE June 13 2008: Initial Release - --------------------------BEGIN INCLUDED TEXT-------------------- - -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 - - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Debian Security Advisory DSA-1596-1 security@debian.org http://www.debian.org/security/ Thijs Kinkhorst June 12, 2008 http://www.debian.org/security/faq - - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Package : typo3 Vulnerability : several Problem type : remote Debian-specific: no Debian Bug : 485814 Several remote vulnerabilities have been discovered in the TYPO3 content management framework. Because of a not sufficiently secure default value of the TYPO3 configuration variable fileDenyPattern, authenticated backend users could upload files that allowed to execute arbitrary code as the webserver user. User input processed by fe_adminlib.inc is not being properly filtered to prevent Cross Site Scripting (XSS) attacks, which is exposed when specific plugins are in use. For the stable distribution (etch), these problems have been fixed in version 4.0.2+debian-5. For the unstable distribution (sid), these problems have been fixed in version 4.1.7-1. We recommend that you upgrade your typo3 package. Upgrade instructions - - -------------------- wget url will fetch the file for you dpkg -i file.deb will install the referenced file. If you are using the apt-get package manager, use the line for sources.list as given below: apt-get update will update the internal database apt-get upgrade will install corrected packages You may use an automated update by adding the resources from the footer to the proper configuration.
