Checked your domain registration details lately?

Date: 02 June 2008

Recent reports suggest Comcast had their webmail and account management systems taken off line due to a hack of their domain. Details are not yet available as to how the domain was taken over, however it should server as a warning for us all.

Are the contact records (Technical and Administrative) for your domain up to date? Do you have the relevant registry keys and passwords? (Have you changed passwords after having staff who knew the passwords resign?)

The DNS is one of the most important parts of all our infrastructures - now may be a great time to check yours is up to date and well maintained.

Be safe online,

Karl Hanmore
