Cypress Room, Crowne Plaza Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast, Australia
Background:
Cyber and online crime is worsening at rates which demand better, coordinated strategies among industry, government, law enforcement and CERTs. Most online criminals generally operate with little risk to themselves with opportunities for profitable returns. More effective strategies are required within and across sectors nationally and internationally.
Target Audience:
- Senior government, law enforcement and private sector personnel with involvement or responsibility for developing policies or strategies for e-security, e-government, fraud and ID theft management or investigations within their own organisations or more broadly.
- High level, focused briefings with some technical detail aimed at information security managers, policy makers and stakeholders within the telecommunications and domain name field.
- Closed event – invitation only.
Purpose:
- Increase awareness of the nature and impact of online ID theft among government and non-banking industry sectors and the challenges it poses for prevention, detection and response.
- Increase awareness of the nature and impact of other forms of online crime used to facilitate online ID theft and fraud, such as the proliferation and detection of botnets used for spam, hosting online ID theft attacks and other malicious activity.
- Seek support for initiatives in Australia that will provide broad benefit for the Internet using community; and for users and providers of e-commerce or e-government services.
