Impact: Denial of Service
                      Execute Arbitrary Code/Commands
Access: Remote/Unauthenticated
CVE Names: CVE-2008-0226 CVE-2008-0227
Member content until: Tuesday, February 12 2008

OVERVIEW:

Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in yaSSL, which is
commonly used in MySQL and other products, which can result in
remote attackers executing arbitrary code or a Denial of Service
        (DoS).

IMPACT:

The National Vulnerability Database [1], gives the following
        information regarding these vulnerabilities:

o CVE-2008-0226: "Multiple buffer overflows in yaSSL 1.7.5 and
earlier, as used in MySQL and possibly other products, allow
remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via (1) the
ProcessOldClientHello function in handshake.cpp or (2)
          "input_buffer& operator>>" in yassl_imp.cpp." [2]

o CVE-2008-0227: "yaSSL 1.7.5 and earlier, as used in MySQL and
possibly other products, allows remote attackers to cause a
denial of service (crash) via a Hello packet containing a large
size value, which triggers a buffer over-read in the
          HASHwithTransform::Update function in hash.cpp." [3]

MITIGATION:

MySQL has addressed these issues in a local 5.0 repository of
mysqldev. "When mysqldev does a push these changes will be
propagated to the main repository and, within 24 hours after the
push, to the public repository." [4]
