-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 =========================================================================== AA-2007.0125 AUSCERT Advisory [Win][UNIX/Linux] Dokeos 1.8.4 Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability 31 December 2007 - --------------------------------------------------------------------------- AusCERT Advisory Summary ------------------------ Product: Dokeos 1.8.4 Operating System: UNIX variants (UNIX, Linux, OSX) Windows Impact: Cross-site Scripting Reduced Security Access: Remote/Unauthenticated CVE Names: CVE-2007-6479 CVE-2007-6574 Member content until: Thursday, January 24 2008 Revision History: December 31 2007: Added CVE December 27 2007: Added CVE December 27 2007: Initial Release OVERVIEW Dokeos 1.8.4 has a Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability and a potential remote PHP upload and execution vulnerability. [1] IMPACT The XSS vulnerability means an attacker may be able to execute scripts on the web browser of a user while they are visiting a Dokeos site. This could allow cookies and other sensitive user data to be accessed by the attacker. [2] The remote PHP upload and execution vulnerability has yet to be confirmed as a real vulnerability. Despite this a patch has been released to implement extension filtering. [3] MITIGATION A patch is available from the Dokeos website. [4] There are also instructions for the patch on the wiki. [1] The hosted versions of Dokeos have already been patched. Additionally the risk can be minimised by only allowing authorized users to post in the forums.
