OVERVIEW
Dokeos 1.8.4 has a Cross Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability and a
potential remote PHP upload and execution vulnerability. [1]
IMPACT
The XSS vulnerability means an attacker may be able to execute
scripts on the web browser of a user while they are visiting a
Dokeos site. This could allow cookies and other sensitive user
data to be accessed by the attacker. [2]
The remote PHP upload and execution vulnerability has yet to be
confirmed as a real vulnerability. Despite this a patch has been
released to implement extension filtering. [3]
MITIGATION
A patch is available from the Dokeos website. [4] There are also
instructions for the patch on the wiki. [1]
The hosted versions of Dokeos have already been patched.
Additionally the risk can be minimised by only allowing authorized
users to post in the forums.
