OVERVIEW:
Due to multiple buffer overflows in CIFS VFS in Linux kernel
2.6.23 and earlier, a remote attacker can cause a DOS and
possibly execute arbitrary code.
IMPACT:
The National Vulnerability Database [1], gives the following
information regarding this vulnerability:
Multiple buffer overflows in CIFS VFS in Linux kernel 2.6.23 and
earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service
(crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via long SMB responses
that trigger the overflows in the SendReceive function. [2]
MITIGATION:
This vulnerability has been fixed in the GIT repository. [3]
