1. Impact

   Unprivileged local and remote users may be able to cause a Denial of
   Service (DoS) condition. It may also be possible for a buffer overflow
   to occur which may allow an unprivileged local or remote user to
   execute arbitrary code.
   
   This issue is described in NISCC Vulnerability Advisory 006489/H323
   (see: [1]http://www.uniras.gov.uk/vuls/2004/006489/h323.htm) which is
   referenced in CERT Advisory CA-2004-01 (see:
   [2]http://www.cert.org/advisories/CA-2004-01.html).
   
2. Contributing Factors

   This issue can occur in the following releases:
   
   SPARC Platform
     * SunForum 3.2 (for Solaris 2.6, 7, 8, and 9) or earlier
     * SunForum 3D 1.0 (for Solaris 8 and 9)

   If the described issue occurs, the system may become unresponsive.
   SOLUTION SUMMARY:
   
4. Relief/Workaround

   To work around the described issue, ensure all systems that are using
   SunForum are behind a firewall or proxy.
   
   System administrators need to ensure that firewalls or proxies are
   configured to block H.323 traffic.
   
   Typically, most firewalls are configured to block H.323 traffic as the
   firewall can not scope within dynamic port allocation required for the
   audio and video streams.
   
   Until this problem is resolved it is advised not to execute SunForum
   on a machine that has a direct connection to the Internet.
