NOTICE: There are no restrictions for distribution of this
Bulletin provided that it remains complete and intact.

RELEASE DATE: 10 October 2003

SEVERITY: 1

SOURCE: HEWLETT-PACKARD COMPANY

REFERENCE: None

PROBLEM SUMMARY
A potential security vulnerability has been identified
within HP Tru64 UNIX Common Desktop Environment (CDE)
dtmailpr that may result in an authorized local or remote
user gaining unauthorized privileged access.

VERSIONS IMPACTED
All currently supported versions of HP Tru64 UNIX running
the CDE including versions 5.1B, 5.1A, 5.1, 4.0G and 4.0F.

RESOLUTION
Until the solutions are available in mainstream release
patch kits, HP is releasing the following Early Release
Patch (ERP) kits.

The ERP kits use dupatch to install and will not install
over any installed Customer Specific Patches (CSPs) that
have file intersections with the ERPs. Contact the
appropriate HP Services support channel for assistance if
the installation of the ERPs is blocked by any installed
CSPs.

The solutions contained in the ERP kits are scheduled to
be available in the following mainstream patch kits:

HP Tru64 UNIX 5.1B PK3

HP Tru64 UNIX 5.1A PK6
