Multiple security vulnerabilities exist in the IBM Java SDK that is shipped
with IBM Content Collector.
Content
The IBM Content Collector is shipped with an IBM Java SDK and an embedded IBM
WebSphere Application Server that also includes an IBM Java SDK. These IBM Java
SDKs are based on the Oracle SDK. In February 2013, Oracle has released
critical patch updates (CPU) that contain security vulnerability fixes.
The IBM JDKs that Content Collector Server ships are affected.
Vulnerability Details
CVE-2013-0440 - Unspecified vulnerability in Java Runtime Environment allows
remote attackers to affect availability via vectors related to JSSE.
CVSS Base Score: 5
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/81799
CVSS Environmental Score*: Undefined
CVSS Vector: (AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:P)
CVE-2013-0443 - Unspecified vulnerability in Java Runtime Environment allows
remote attackers to affect confidentiality and integrity via vectors related
to JSSE.
CVSS Base Score: 4
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/81801

CVE-2013-0169 - The TLS protocol does not properly consider timing side-channel
attacks, which allows remote attackers to conduct distinguishing attacks and
plain-text recovery attacks via statistical analysis of timing data for crafted
packets, aka the "Lucky Thirteen" issue.
CVSS Base Score: 4.3
CVSS Temporal Score: See http://xforce.iss.net/xforce/xfdb/81902

Solutions
Upgrade your IBM Content Collector as indicated below:
For IBM Content Collector V3.0:
Apply IBM Content Collector Fix Pack 3.0.0.3. In addition, apply one of the
following options:
WebSphere Application Server Interim Fix PM80758
Java SDK shipped with WebSphere Application Server Fix Pack 6 (8.0.0.6)
or later (targeted to be available late April 2013)
For IBM Content Collector V2.2:
Apply IBM Content Collector Fix Pack 2.2.0.4 (targeted to be available late
July 2013).
This IBM Content Collector fix pack will include the required WebSphere
Application Server fixes.
For IBM Content Collector V2.1 and V2.1.1:
Contact IBM ECM support for further assistance.
To reach IBM ECM support, visit the Technical Support section of the IBM

*The CVSS Environment Score is customer environment specific and will
ultimately impact the Overall CVSS Score. Customers can evaluate the impact of
this vulnerability in their environments by accessing the links in the
Reference section of this Flash.
Note: According to the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST),
the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) is an "industry open standard
designed to convey vulnerability severity and help to determine urgency and
priority of response." IBM PROVIDES THE CVSS SCORES "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY
OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. CUSTOMERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSESSING THE IMPACT
OF ANY ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL SECURITY VULNERABILITY.
