Cisco Nexus 7000 Frame Forwarding Loop Denial of Service Vulnerability
http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityNotice/CVE-2013-1226
CVE ID: CVE-2013-1226
Release Date: 2013 April 25 20:12 UTC (GMT)
Last Updated: 2013 April 25 20:12 UTC (GMT)
Summary
A vulnerability in the Ethernet frame forwarding code of the Cisco Nexus 7000
Series Switch could allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a
frame forwarding loop that that may saturate all interswitch links and affect
all services on the switch, causing a network outage.
The vulnerability is due to mishandling of a specific type of non-standard
Ethernet frames, which, once received, are replicated to all links. An attacker
could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted, non-standard Ethernet
frame.
