Hello All,

This week has been busy!

It was Microsoft Patch Day on Tuesday, with 9 bulletins, with about half of these being rated as critical. Of particular interest is an Administrator compromise due to vulnerabilities in Windows' Kernel-Mode Drivers and a remote code execution bug in the Windows C Run-Time Library.

In addition, Oracle released 14 security updates for Java, a new version of Chrome was released, as well as new versions for Firefox, Thunderbird, and SeaMonkey AND Adobe released an update for Shockwave Player and Flash Player.

On top of all that, AusCERT participated in the APCERT drill on Tuesday, where 22 CSIRT teams from 17 economies tested out their emergency response procedures; a big success all round.

AusCERT's "Security on the Move" goes to Melbourne on the 8th March and "Call for Papers" for the AusCERT conference closed on 30th January, with papers currently being reviewed. Notification of accepted tutorials and presentations are due on the 24th February.

Next week I'm on leave, part of which will involve rocking out at one of the many Sidewaves. I imagine I'll be dancing something like this.

Until next time - safe surfing,
Olivia
