Greetings,

Firstly, welcome to our newest recruit Angus Gardner. Angus Gardner has previously worked as a Unix Project Engineer and joins AusCERT as an Information Security Analyst. Welcome Angus!

This week also saw the release of 13 Microsoft bulletins, addressing 19 vulnerabilities, as part of "Patch Tuesday". Of particular note, ESB-2011.1235-2 relates to the Duqu trojan.

Adobe released more patches for Flash Player and for the Sys Admins, it would be worthwhile updating PuTTY to the latest version (0.62) or potentially risk having your passwords are belong to us.

Telstra unwittingly exposed customer information last Friday. SC Magazine found reports claiming that "...the gaffe potentially affected up to a million customer accounts, however Telstra had reset passwords for 60,000 accounts." In addition, many online services were unavailable. In a public announcement, Telstra asked that "Customers who cannot log into their BigPond accounts or need passwords reset, should contact us on 133 933 anytime".

That concludes the main events for this week, have a great weekend and stay safe!

Olivia
