The information in the following Security Bulletin should be acted
upon as soon as possible.  Hewlett-Packard Company will not be
liable for any consequences to any customer resulting from customer's
failure to fully implement instructions in this Security Bulletin as
soon as possible.

PROBLEM:  Certain files used by the asecure program have unsafe
          permissions.

PLATFORM: HP9000 Series 700/800 running HP-UX releases 10.01, 10.10,
          10.20 and 11.00 only.

DAMAGE:   Possible denial of service

SOLUTION: Install the appropriate patch for the HP-UX release:

MANUAL ACTIONS: /usr/bin/chmod 444  in two files, see details below

AVAILABILITY:  The patches are available now.

CHANGE SUMMARY:  Updated patch information, deleted old instructions.

 A. Background
    Certain files used by the asecure program have unsafe permissions.

 B. Fixing the problem
    Install the appropriate patch.  If that is not possible,
    change the permissions of the files listed below.

 C. Recommended solution
    Obtain the necessary patch from itrc.hp.com, as described below.
    For HP-UX releases 10.10,10.20: PHSS_24534
                         and 11.00: PHSS_24608

    NOTE: No patch is needed for HP-UX 11.11.

MANUAL ACTIONS: For customers with 10.01 systems or for customers
who are unable to install the patches, change permissions:

- ---->>         /usr/bin/chmod 444 /var/opt/audio/audio_error_log
