AusCERT has won auDA's Australia and New Zealand Internet Best Practice Award for the category of Best Security Initiative for 2010.
AusCERT won the award for its work to repatriate data stolen from malware infected computers so the affected parties can mitigate the harm. The initiative has allowed many thousands of victims all around the world to minimise subsequent harm arising from the compromise of their computers by malware.

As a non-government computer security group based at the University of Queensland, AusCERT helps Australian Internet users and organisations prevent, detect, respond to and mitigate cyber and Internet based attacks.
Separate to its commercial services, which are conducted on a not-for-profit basis, AusCERT assists Australian organisations recover from cyber attack as part of its goal to improve Internet security in Australia.
The winner was announced on 18 October 2010.
