OVERVIEW

        IBM have released Fix Packs for DB2 9.7, DB2 9.5, DB2 9.1 and DB2 8
        correcting a number of security vulnerabilities.


IMPACT

        The vendor has provided the following information regarding these
        vulnerabilities: [1][2][3]
        
        * "USER WITHOUT SUFFICIENT PRIVILEGE COULD INSERT, UPDATE OR DELETE
           ROWS IN A TABLE."
        * "USER CAN PERFORM "SET SESSION AUTHORIZATION" WITHOUT
           SETSESSIONUSER PRIVILEGE."
        * "DASAUTO COMMAND CAN BE RUN BY NON-PRIVILEGED USERS"
        * "UNAUTHORIZED CONNECTIONS POSSIBLE ON DATABASE SERVERS WITH
           LDAP-BASED AUTHENTICATION"


MITIGATION

        IBM has released the following Fix Packs to resolve these issues:
        
        * IBM DB2 9.7 Fix Pack 1 [1]
        * IBM DB2 9.5 Fix Pack 4 [2]
        * IBM DB2 9.1 Fix Pack 8 [3]
        * IBM DB2 8 Fix Pack 18
