AusCERT and CERT Australia - The Road Ahead

As many of you are no doubt aware the Australian government has announced the creation of CERT Australia - Australia’s new national CERT, which will take over the role from AusCERT, from January 2010.

As there is some confusion regarding how this will affect AusCERT in the future, here are some clarification points:

AusCERT remains a separate entity under the auspices of the University of Queensland.
AusCERT will be supplying services to CERT Australia - the nature of these services is still under negotiation.
AusCERT will be working very closely with CERT Australia. We will not be acting in competition but rather aim to provide complementary services.
Once negotiations are finalised regarding what services AusCERT will be providing to CERT Australia a detailed notification will be sent to members.
