OVERVIEW
A potential security vulnerability has been identified in IBM
WebSphere Commerce Family products.
IMPACT
IBM Internet Security Systems (ISS) have confirmed the
vulnerability which they detail as:
"IBM WebSphere Commerce Family products (Net.Commerce) and Net.Data
contain configuration files that reside on the web server's root and
are accessible to all by default. An attacker can retrieve the
onfiguration files, which contain sensitive information about the
web server (e.g. passwords, information about the database, physical
paths, etc.)" [1]
MITIGATION
Whilst there does not seem to be a patch for this vulnerability, ISS
have offered the following mitigation:
"Restrict access to the IBM WebSphere configuration files or move
them outside of the web server's root."
