OVERVIEW:
A weakness has been found in 3Com switches (5500/5500G) where the
password can be extracted in plain text from the logbuffer.
IMPACT:
A local user on the switch may be able to extract the password from
the switches logbuffer.
First found in firmware version V3.03.01p05 and patched in V3.03.02
as described by vendor:
"LSOD08193 The password can be found in logbuffer, this is a hidden
danger." [1,2]
MITIGATION:
Vendor has provided an updated firmware version 3.03.02 which
resolves this issue.
