February patch rollouts and some tough love.

Date: 12 February 2009

Greetings,

Another Microsoft monthly patch cycle has passed. This weeks highlighted some serious vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer and Exchange. The vulnerability in Exchange can allow a remote attacker to take complete control of the Exchange Server with the privileges of the service. Anyone running Exchange should look into patching, as compromising a email server can lead to further attacks such as phishing and identity fraud.

Apple also released a number of advisories detailing updates for OS X, Safari for Windows and Java.

A reminder for you blokes out there, tomorrow is Valentine's day so be sure to pick up something nice for the missus. A reminder for you admins, tomorrow is Valentine's day so be sure to pick up the phishing/trojan emails with the themed subject lines.

Have a good weekend.

Regards,

Paul
