OVERVIEW:
A vulnerability has been identified in Sophos Anti-Virus.
IMPACT:
The vendor describes the vulnerability as a "... minor TAO-related
vulnerability within the Remote Management System (RMS) component of
Sophos Anti-Virus...." [1] This vulnerability can be exploited to
cause the RMS router to restart by sending a large malfored GIOP
message, resulting in a denial of service. [1]
MITIGATION:
The vendor recommends updating to version 3.0.9 of RMS, and also
advises that the update has been issued automatically to customers
using EM Library as part of the following releases [1]:
* Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista 7.6.0
* Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 95/98/NT 4.7.16
* Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OSX 4.9.15
* Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux 6.4.4
