OVERVIEW:

A vulnerability has been corrected in the latest Linux Kernel.

IMPACT:

The National Vulnerability Database [1] has assigned CVE-2008-5700
       to this vulnerability:

CVE-2008-5700: libata in the Linux kernel before 2.6.27.9 does not
set minimum timeouts for SG_IO requests, which allows local users to
cause a denial of service (Programmed I/O mode on drives) via
multiple simultaneous invocations of an unspecified test program.
       [2]

Kernel.org have confirmed its fix in the change log for 2.6.28:

Add a BLK_MIN_SG_TIMEOUT to match the existing
       BLK_DEFAULT_SG_TIMEOUT. [3]

MITIGATION:

Upgrade to Linux Kernel version 2.6.28 or later to patch this
       vulnerability.
