OVERVIEW:
A number of builds of Backup Exec are affected by multiple security
vulnerabilities.
IMPACT:
Backup Exec remote agents are exposed to the potential for
authentication bypass to an authorised but unprivileged network user
during the logon process.
A buffer overflow vulnerability is exposed in the data management
protocol, allowing the unauthorised user to cause a Denial of Service.
Further compromise of the system is also possible. [1]
MITIGATION:
Symantec has currently released patches to correct Windows builds only.
All users should upgrade as soon as possible.
