Severity Level: High CVSS Score: CVSS 3.1 Problem: An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in Routing Protocol Daemon (RPD) of Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause Denial of Service (DoS). If a BGP update is received over an established BGP session which contains a tunnel encapsulation attribute with a specifically malformed TLV, rpd will crash and restart. This issue affects: Junos OS: o All versions before 21.2R3-S7, o from 21.3 before 21.3R3-S5, o from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S5, o from 22.1 before 22.1R3-S5, o from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S3, o from 22.3 before 22.3R3-S2, o from 22.4 before 22.4R3, o from 23.2 before 23.2R1-S2, 23.2R2. Junos OS Evolved: o All versions before 21.2R3-S7-EVO, o from 21.3-EVO before 21.3R3-S5-EVO, o from 21.4-EVO before 21.4R3-S5-EVO, o from 22.2-EVO before 22.2R3-S3-EVO, o from 22.3-EVO before 22.3R3-S2-EVO, o from 22.4-EVO before 22.4R3-EVO, o from 23.2-EVO before 23.2R1-S2-EVO, 23.2R2-EVO. This is a related but separate issue from the one described in JSA75739. To be exposed to this vulnerability BGP needs to be configured as in the following example, but no further options need to be enabled: [protocols bgp group <group> neighbor ...] Juniper SIRT is not aware of any malicious exploitation of this vulnerability. This issue was discovered during production use. This issue has been assigned CVE-2024-30395 . Solution: The following software releases have been updated to resolve this specific issue: Junos OS: 21.2R3-S7, 21.3R3-S5, 21.4R3-S5, 22.1R3-S5, 22.2R3-S3, 22.3R3-S2, 22.4R3, 23.2R1-S2, 23.2R2, 23.4R1, and all subsequent releases. Junos OS Evolved: 21.2R3-S7-EVO, 21.3R3-S5-EVO, 21.4R3-S5-EVO, 22.2R3-S3-EVO, 22.3R3-S2-EVO, 22.4R3-EVO, 23.2R1-S2-EVO, 23.2R2-EVO, 23.4R1-EVO, and all subsequent releases. This issue is being tracked as 1750441 which is visible on the Customer Support website. Note: Juniper SIRT's policy is not to evaluate releases which are beyond End of Engineering (EOE) or End of Life (EOL). Workaround: There are no available workarounds for this issue.
