Details

USN-5404-1 addressed a vulnerability in Rsyslog. This update
provides the corresponding update for Ubuntu 16.04 ESM.

Original advisory details:

Pieter Agten discovered that Rsyslog incorrectly handled certain requests.
An attacker could possibly use this issue to cause a crash.

Update instructions

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following package
versions:

Ubuntu 16.04

  o rsyslog - 8.16.0-1ubuntu3.1+esm2
    Available with UA Infra or UA Desktop

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
