Security Bulletin: GSKit SSL/TLS Record Length vulnerability in Tivoli
Directory Server (CVE-2012-2191)
Flash (Alert)
Abstract
A vulnerability has been identified in the GSKit component utilized by Tivoli
Directory Server (TDS). A specifically crafted malformed SSL/TLS data packet
can cause the TDS server using GSKit to segmentation fault.. Remediation for
the issue consists of updating GSKit 7 to version 7.0.4.41 or higher, and GSKit
8 to version 8.0.14.22 or higher.
Content
VULNERABILITY DETAILS
CVE ID: CVE-2012-2191
DESCRIPTION:
TDS uses GSKit for SSL/TLS connections. The GSKit implementation of CBC and
AEAD Cipher Suites are vulnerable to an attack from a specifically crafted
malformed SSL/TLS data packet. There are several ciphers supported by TDS that
are included in these Suites. An attacker would need to act as a
man-in-the-middle, intercepting the SSL data stream between any LDAP client
(such as ldapsearch) and a TDS server that was using an affected cipher, and
inject a malformed data packet into the stream. Were an attacker able to do so,
they could cause the TDS server process to crash. The attack does not require
local network access nor does it require authentication, but some degree of
specialized knowledge and techniques are required. An exploit would not impact
the confidentiality of information or the integrity of data, however
accessibility of the system could be compromised.

Security Bulletin: GSKit SSL/TLS handshake vulnerability in Tivoli Directory
Server (CVE-2012-2190)
Flash (Alert)
Abstract
A vulnerability has been identified in the GSKit 7 component utilized by Tivoli
Directory Server (TDS) version 6.0, 6.1 or 6.2. A specifically crafted
malformed SSL/TLS data packet can cause a TDS server using GSKit 7 to
segmentation fault.. Remediation for the issue consists of updating GSKit 7 to
version 7.0.4.40 or higher.

VULNERABILITY DETAILS
CVE ID: CVE-2012-2190
DESCRIPTION:
When a client attempts to establish an SSL/TLS connection, the client and
server negotiate what type of cypher suite to use and whether to trust each
other. This negotiation is called the "handshake". TDS 6.0, 6.1 and 6.2 use
GSKit 7 for SSL/TLS connections. GSKit 7 is vulnerable to an attack from a
specifically crafted malformed SSL/TLS data packet during the handshake. An
attacker would need to send a malformed data packet to the server during the
SSL/TLS handshake negotiation. Were an attacker able to do so, they could cause
the TDS server process to crash. The attack does not require local network
access nor does it require authentication, but some degree of specialized
knowledge and techniques are required. An exploit would not impact the
confidentiality of information or the integrity of data, however accessibility
of the system could be compromised.

Security Bulletin: GSKit Trust Anchor vulnerability in Tivoli Directory Server
(CVE-2012-2203)
Flash (Alert)
Abstract
A vulnerability has been identified in the GSKit component utilized by Tivoli
Directory Server (TDS) such that trust anchors can be inserted without
detection. Remediation for the issue consists of updating GSKit 7 to version
7.0.4.41 or higher, and GSKit 8 to version 8.0.14.22 or higher.
Content
VULNERABILITY DETAILS
CVE ID: CVE-2012-2203
DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been discovered with the importing of certificates when a
PKCS#12 file is the source. Such certificates are used in a number of places by
TDS client and server components and the GSKit components used by TDS support
importing PKCS#12 files. The vulnerability exists because trust anchors can be
inserted without detection. Should someone with file level access to the
PKCS#12 source file succeed in adding additional trust anchors prior to the
import, this may result in a successful SSL/TLS connection that would normally
have been rejected due to a missing chain of trust. For example, an attacker
could use a crafted certificate to establish a TLS connection to the TDS server
because the certification authority trust anchor in the TDS server certificate
had been compromised. The attack requires access to the PKCS#12 source file and
sufficient permissions to modify that file. Specialized knowledge and
techniques are required. An exploit would not impact accessibility of the
compromised system, but it could impact the confidentiality of information and
the integrity of data.
